To improve your health even better Find the Best Vitamins and Minerals on Amazon.

Psoriasis is a severe condition characterized by the appearance of red, scaly patches on the skin. Medical experts believe that an imbalance in the immune system plays a significant role in its development. Among the popular treatment methods are special non-steroidal ointments and light therapy. However, one should not overlook traditional remedies such as natural oils.

Oregano Oil for Psoriasis
Oregano oil possesses strong anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and analgesic properties. Its active ingredients (rosmarinic, oleanolic, and ursolic acids) strengthen the immune system and inhibit the growth of bacteria associated with guttate psoriasis.
It is recommended to take 20–60 drops of oregano oil diluted in water or juice twice a day.

Neem Oil for Psoriasis
Neem oil contains over 100 chemical compounds, including steroids (campesterol, beta-sitosterol, and stigmasterol) and triterpenoid saponins, the most important of which is azadirachtin. This substance belongs to the limonoid class, explaining the antibacterial properties of citrus fruits. Azadirachtin makes neem oil an effective treatment for psoriasis. The oil is for external use only.

Lavender Oil for Psoriasis
Lavender essential oil is valued for its anti-stress, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains two active ingredients, linalool and linalyl acetate, which help reduce burning, itching, pain, swelling, and redness—common symptoms of psoriasis. Lavender oil is recommended for aromatherapy, compresses, warm baths (with chamomile oil—3 drops each), and as an additive to creams and lotions.

Tea Tree Oil for Psoriasis
For centuries, Australian natives have used tea tree leaves to treat skin diseases. Tea tree oil contains terpinen-4-ol, alpha-terpineol, and alpha-pinene—natural components with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects that may help treat psoriasis.
A study in the British Journal of Dermatology (2002) highlighted these substances’ ability to reduce the activity of immune cells responsible for inflammation. Tea tree oil decreases histamine response and inhibits bacterial and fungal growth. It is sold in pharmacies and is added to lotions, soaps, and other skincare products (5–10% concentration). It should only be applied topically as ingestion is hazardous.

Walnut Oil for Psoriasis
The antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties of walnut oil can also aid in the fight against psoriasis. Add some to a bath or apply directly to affected areas. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, this oil can address skin issues from within. Consider replacing sunflower oil with walnut oil in salads.

Kukui Nut Oil for Psoriasis
Kukui nut oil does not leave a greasy residue. Hawaiians use it for dandruff and itchy scalp. It promotes wound and scar healing, helps with wrinkles, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and sunburns. It is ideal for dry, cracked skin. Kukui nut oil, composed of 42% linoleic and 29% alpha-linolenic acids, is effective against psoriasis. It also moisturizes hair, adding shine.

Emu Oil for Psoriasis
Finally, the most unusual psoriasis remedy is emu oil, derived from the subcutaneous fat of large flightless birds. It is unclear where to find it in Russia, but in the U.S., it has gained popularity for psoriasis treatment.

The oleic acid and other omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, along with vitamins A and C, allow the oil to deeply penetrate the skin and target inflamed tissues. Before use, take a warm bath without soap, shower gels, or fragranced foams. Immediately after bathing, apply emu oil to affected areas, wrap in plastic wrap, and leave overnight. Rinse off in the morning along with dead skin particles.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of plant- and animal-based oils for psoriasis. Perhaps tomorrow, new effective remedies will join their ranks.
