Restoring the liver with folk remedies after chemotherapy

Medications used to treat malignant tumors, while destroying cancer cells and stopping tumor growth, negatively affect the healthy cells of vital organs.

The liver bears the brunt of chemotherapy, being the primary organ responsible for removing heavy elements and toxins from the human body.

After chemotherapy, the liver needs to be cleansed because the use of potent drugs can lead to complications such as toxic liver damage, which impairs its functioning. The ability of the liver to regenerate its damaged cells diminishes under the influence of chemotherapy. Therefore, protecting the liver from toxic agents and restoring its functions are crucial steps in recovery.

Methods of cleansing the liver after chemotherapy

People who have undergone chemotherapy should adjust their diet.

Diet

It is necessary to adhere to the following recommendations:

Eat properly and balance your diet.
Avoid fried, spicy, fatty foods, limit stewed dishes, and do not consume fatty varieties of fish and meat, smoked foods, pickles, and salted foods. It is not recommended to eat spinach, peas, beans, turnips, onions, and rhubarb.
Dietitians recommend including cabbage soup (made with fresh cabbage), vegetarian, and milk soups in the menu.
For the main course, eat dishes made from lean types of boiled meat (turkey, chicken, beef, and tongue) and lean varieties of fish (carp, cod, pike, zander, and mullet).
Very beneficial for the liver are mild cheeses, cheese (low-fat) with honey or milk. To restore intestinal flora after chemotherapy, take probiotics containing the necessary intestinal bacteria.

The anti-toxic menu should include: ripe berries and fruits, pumpkin, melon, yellow tomatoes, and carrots, rosehip decoction and juices (grape, apple), soaked dried apricots, prunes, and wheat germ. These products contain anticancer compounds that promote the removal of toxins, which positively affects overall body strengthening.

Eat food warm (do not overheat).
Do not consume alcoholic and carbonated drinks, drink juices only when cooled.
After eating, sit quietly for a couple of hours, but do not lie down.

Folk remedies and medications

After chemotherapy, the liver is cleansed using medicinal preparations (“Karsil”, “Essentiale”) in tablets or intravenously. These drugs have a positive effect on the entire body. The intake of medical drugs, as well as the use of folk recipes, should be done under the supervision of a treating physician, taking into account contraindications and the patient’s health condition.

Among the folk remedies, even qualified doctors recommend taking oatmeal infusion, which effectively restores liver function and has no contraindications for use. If the patient has stomach ulcers, water can be replaced with milk.

The grain for preparing the infusion should be selected correctly (elastic, light, with a straw smell). Use grains that do not float to the surface after soaking. A mandatory condition for preparing a quality infusion is clay or cast iron dishes.

This remedy has a mild effect. The course of treatment lasts for three months.

Oatmeal infusion recipe

Pour one cup of oat grains with water (hot) – 3 liters. Do not use an enamelware. Place the infusion in a preheated oven (150 degrees) for two hours. Remove it and leave it in a warm place for 10-12 hours. Then squeeze and strain the infusion.

Take the medicine before meals (20 minutes). Start with a quarter glass and gradually increase the dose (up to 0.5 glasses).
