Obesity: Causes and Treatment with Folk Remedies

Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by excessive fat accumulation (metabolic disorder), leading to overweight.

Causes of Obesity: Obesity and weight gain occur when energy intake from food significantly exceeds the body’s physiological needs, often due to systematic overeating.

High-calorie foods that can lead to obesity include fatty products and sweets, fatty dairy and sausage products, mayonnaise, pastry products, and sweet soft drinks. Additionally, irregular eating patterns, consuming large amounts of food in the second half of the day and before bedtime, and eating on the go contribute to weight gain.

Treating Obesity: Treatment involves a comprehensive approach: individually tailored diets, increased physical activity, avoiding harmful habits, and constant medical supervision for treatment plan adjustments.

Folk Remedies for Treating Obesity:

  • Oatmeal Infusion: Pour two tablespoons of oatmeal with six liters of cold (preferably boiled) water and infuse for one hour. Add three tablespoons of milk, one teaspoon of sugar, and one teaspoon of freshly ground viburnum berries to two glasses of the oat infusion. Consume the infusion once in the morning on an empty stomach.
  • Parsley Root Infusion: Pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over two teaspoons of crushed garden parsley roots in a thermos and infuse overnight. Strain in the morning. Take one tablespoon 3-4 times a day for one month.
  • Corn Silk Extract: Take 20 drops of corn silk extract before each meal.
  • Honey Solution: Dissolve one tablespoon of honey in ½ cup of boiled water cooled to room temperature and drink in the morning on an empty stomach, then avoid eating for two hours. In the evening, drink the honey solution again two hours before bedtime. The treatment course is one month, which can be repeated after a two-week break.
  • Rosehip Tea: Pour one tablespoon of common rosehip fruits with a glass of boiling water and simmer for fifteen minutes. Drink as tea throughout the day, adding sugar to taste, at least four times a day.
  • Herbal Infusion: Mix two parts yarrow herb, two parts buckthorn bark, five parts corn silk, and one part common juniper fruits. Pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over two tablespoons of the mixture in a thermos and infuse overnight. Take ½ cup three times a day before meals.
  • Knotweed Infusion: Infuse two tablespoons of chopped knotweed (birdweed) in two glasses of boiling water for two hours. Drink ½-2/3 cup 3-4 times a day before meals for metabolic disorders and obesity.
