Everyone loves to enjoy watermelon — not only children, but also adults. Yet not everyone knows about its healing properties. So, let us try to fill this gap in our knowledge together.

Healing properties of watermelon
It is easy to understand why. This berry is rich in nutrients and contains:
-
fructose;
-
organic acids;
-
vitamins A, C, B, B2, B6, P;
-
folic acid;
-
pectins;
-
potassium;
-
iron;
-
magnesium;
-
calcium.
Thanks to pectins, intestinal peristalsis improves, and cholesterol is eliminated from the human body. Watermelon also has a rejuvenating effect. So, do not hesitate — eat watermelon once or twice during the season. Women can even use the pulp or juice of this berry to make face masks.
The presence of potassium supports the normal functioning of the body, making watermelon especially valuable. It is particularly beneficial for kidney diseases, urinary tract disorders, and prolonged diarrhea — conditions when the body suffers from potassium deficiency.
Watermelon is low in calories and at the same time rich in water and iron. Therefore, it is a very useful product for those struggling with obesity.
Watermelon can help with:
-
hypertension;
-
atherosclerosis;
-
gout;
-
arthritis.
These diseases are most common among the elderly.
Eat watermelon if you suffer from liver disease, gallbladder issues, or external and internal intoxications, since it helps eliminate toxins from the body.
And that is not all — there are even more healing properties of watermelon…
Watermelon seeds — a good anthelmintic remedy
In this case, the seeds should be ground into powder. Then one part of the powder is mixed with ten parts of milk (for example, one tablespoon of powder in ten tablespoons of milk). The medicine is ready.
An adult may take two glasses of the mixture during the day (a quarter glass on an empty stomach). A child needs only one glass per day. The treatment lasts for seven days, followed by a week-long break, and then repeated for another seven days. This method is used for treating giardiasis cholecystitis.
In the past, crushed watermelon seeds mixed with water (1:10) were used. Drinking this “milk” treated fever and served as an anthelmintic. The watermelon rind has similar effects.
The healing properties of watermelon are also used in urate and potassium-oxalate urolithiasis. However, disturbances in salt metabolism can have different causes. A watermelon diet eliminates certain salts, but others remain during increased urination and may provoke stone growth.
Therefore, when using these natural remedies, it is essential to understand the reason for the metabolic imbalance to avoid harm.
Use of watermelon rind in gallstone disease
The green rind of the watermelon (specifically the green part, without the white layer) is used for treating gallstones. The rind should be carefully peeled, chopped, and dried.
Preparation of medicine: 1 teaspoon of the dried rind is poured with a glass of boiling water and infused for 20–30 minutes, then strained. Drink ¼ glass 4 times a day.
The white part of the rind can also be used for medicine. Its juice can be squeezed and taken for heart diseases, liver conditions, and even ascites (when fluid accumulates in the abdominal cavity).
It is important to remember that the watermelon you consume for healing should be clean — grown without growth stimulants, nitrates, or other harmful substances.
