How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks on Thighs and Legs

The skin has its threshold of strength – overloads lead to the appearance of fiber ruptures (stretch marks) and most often these scars adorn the lower part of the body. How to get rid of stretch marks on thighs and legs? We will share important recommendations.

How do stretch marks form?

Stretch marks most often occur during pregnancy or with rapid fluctuations in body weight. They also appear:

with hormonal disorders,
with genetic predisposition,
with systemic use of certain medications,
with diseases affecting the endocrine system.

Stretch marks occur due to local rupture of skin fibers – the defect is filled with connective tissue over time. Initially, stretch marks have a purple or reddish color. At this stage, they can still be treated. Gradually, stretch marks lose their color – due to the absence of melanin, they become discolored (the skin stops absorbing ultraviolet light, so stretch marks do not tan).

Preventive measures

To prevent the appearance of stretch marks, pay attention to their prevention:

Consume foods rich in vitamins A, E, C, fatty acids (plant oils, fish, avocado), and lean proteins (low-fat oil, eggs).
Monitor your weight.
Use body creams and lotions.
Professional stretch mark treatments

In the fight against stretch marks on the legs and thighs, you can use:

Combination of chemical peeling and fractional photothermolysis.
Mesotherapy (a course of microinjections).
ELOS (heating of deep layers of the skin using light and electrical energy).
Laser resurfacing (smoothing the skin relief using a laser).
Wraps

As practice shows, all the above methods make stretch marks less noticeable, but they do not remove them (unless the stretch mark formation process is captured at its very beginning). Complete elimination of stretch marks can only be achieved through surgery.

How to get rid of stretch marks on thighs and legs at home

In the fight against stretch marks on the legs and thighs, you can use home remedies – they certainly do not completely remove stretch marks, but they can make them less noticeable.

Mumio

Dissolve two tablets of mumio in a small amount of water and mix with 50 ml of cream or body lotion. Add 2-3 drops of orange essential oil. Before applying the product, exfoliate the problem area. Rub the cream into the skin in the morning and evening (do not wash it off). The course includes 30 daily procedures.

Brewer’s yeast

Dissolve 15 g of dry brewer’s yeast in 4 tsp of sour cream, add 4 tsp of liquid honey. Let the mixture infuse for 20 minutes, then apply it to the skin, leave it on for half an hour, and take a contrast shower.

Oil massages

This remedy is used both for prevention and for the treatment of stretch marks. Prepare a mixture containing almond oil, jojoba oil, and wheat germ oil. Add 2-3 drops of neroli or petitgrain oil to the mixture. Massage the problem area daily.

Chocolate wrap

Chocolate tones the skin excellently and reduces the depth of stretch marks. Pour 100 g of cocoa powder with half a liter of boiling water and let it cool to a comfortable temperature. Apply the resulting chocolate mass to the problem area, wrap the body with film, and wrap or lie under a blanket. Duration of action: 40-60 minutes. Before the procedure, do not forget to cleanse the skin with a scrub. Wraps can be done 2-3 times a week.
