Burdock Tincture for Joints: Benefits and Recipes
Burdock is one of the most common plants found almost everywhere. It grows abundantly along riverbanks, wastelands, and near houses. Many people consider burdock just a weed, sometimes used as animal feed. However, few know that this plant is highly valued in cosmetology and folk medicine. Burdock root is used to make healing tinctures and decoctions, while the leaves are applied as compresses for treating joint pain. One of burdock’s main advantages is its ability to help with joint diseases and radiculitis. But how should burdock be properly used in home medicine?
Features and Benefits of Burdock
There are about 20 species of burdock in the world, most of which are medicinal plants used for treating different ailments. Almost all parts of the plant are used in medicine — leaves, seeds, roots, and stems. Each contains valuable components, minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and essential oils. Together, they have a complex effect on the body, can normalize digestion, and treat joint problems.
Burdock roots are especially widespread in folk medicine. They grow very deep — up to 150 cm into the ground — making them convenient for drying and storing. Most importantly, they are rich in useful substances. Burdock root is also used in cooking to prepare various dishes.
Burdock is most often used for:
-
speeding up recovery after urogenital system diseases;
