Treatment of Cystitis with Folk Remedies
Cystitis is an acute or chronic bladder disease caused by a bacterial infection. The illness manifests itself through frequent urges to urinate, with only a small amount of fluid released, often accompanied by pain and abdominal bloating.
Women are more prone to cystitis due to anatomical features.
Treatment of cystitis is carried out under medical supervision and often, especially in acute cases, requires antibiotics. However, it is possible to prevent the acute course of the disease and relieve symptoms with the help of folk and home remedies.
Drink more fluids
To reduce the concentration of bacteria in urine, it is necessary to drink plenty of water. Ideally, the water should be warm to soothe the internal organs.
Warm herbal teas are also beneficial. Prepare a tea that relieves pain and stops further inflammation: pour boiling water over equal parts of the following herbs: plantain, linden blossom, poplar buds, parsley seeds, and fireweed.
Drink a cup of any herbal tea every 20 minutes for 3–4 hours.
How to reduce urine acidity?
Squeeze half a lemon into a glass, fill one-fourth with water, and add one-third of a teaspoon of baking soda. Stir everything while the reaction occurs. Take three times a day before meals. This is especially helpful in treating chronic cystitis.
Unsweetened cranberry juice or fresh cranberries prevent bacteria from sticking to the bladder walls.
Heat
Apply a heating pad or a bottle of hot water to the lower abdomen or lower back. This will ease the condition and relieve pain.
Alkaline foods
Cystitis develops in an acidic environment, so alkaline foods help to relieve inflammation and neutralize acidity more quickly. Eat green vegetables, salads, cabbage, increase onions and garlic — natural antibacterial agents. Pineapples, fresh or canned, have strong anti-inflammatory properties.
What to exclude from the diet in cystitis?
Exclude baked goods, pastries and cookies, cheese, ketchup, soy sauce, mushrooms, marinades, orange juice, alcohol, and coffee.
