Dry Cough: Treatment with Folk Remedies
Various infusions and decoctions of medicinal plants (thyme, coltsfoot, mint, St. John’s wort, chamomile, comfrey, and licorice root) are effective in treating dry cough.
You can also prepare a honey mixture. For this, you will need: 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder and cream, 2 teaspoons of vodka, or 1 teaspoon of alcohol. Mix everything until you get a homogeneous and viscous mass.
Take one teaspoon of this syrup for dry cough half an hour before meals three times a day and once at night before bedtime.
You can also use onion decoction for dry cough. You will need: 1 liter of water, 2 onions, and 1 cup of sugar. Put unpeeled onions and sugar in boiling water, simmer for 1 hour on low heat. Then strain the decoction, cool it, and drink 0.5 cups 4-5 times a day.
Dry Cough in Children: Folk Remedies
Milk is considered an excellent remedy. Take 500 ml of this healing drink, add 1 tablespoon of cream, 1 teaspoon of honey, and an egg yolk. Bring the milk to a boil, let it cool slightly, and add the other ingredients, mix. Take this remedy warm 5-6 times a day in a dose of 80-100 ml. Your child will feel better immediately.
A mixture of honey and carrot juice is also helpful for children with a dry cough. To prepare the mixture, you will need 1 large carrot and 1 teaspoon of honey. Peel the carrot and make juice from it, then add honey. Give the mixture to the child in a tablespoon four times a day.
Inhalations for Dry Cough
For inhalations, you can use both a nebulizer with water and folk remedies. You can make decoctions from medicinal herbs: chamomile, sage, comfrey, calendula, raspberry leaves, and peppermint. These herbs have anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and antiseptic properties.
For inhalation, pour hot water over the herbs and let them steep for 5 minutes. Then lean over the container with the decoction of medicinal herbs and inhale its vapors for 10-15 minutes.
Baking soda is an effective means against various viruses and microbes. It is used as a disinfectant for inhalations during the treatment of respiratory diseases, especially effective in angina.
The recipe is simple: dissolve 1 teaspoon of soda in a liter of hot water, inhale the steam for no more than 10 minutes.
